I replaced my original GLI cluster with a Fairmont (sports style) cluster a few weeks ago (93 EBII Falcon wagon), all the lights and guages work well (with the exception of the oil pressure guage as I haven't yet fitted an oil pressure sender) and the "low coolant" indicator stays on (for similar reasons Im guessing.

Last Sunday I helped a mate fix my air con (new evaporator and dryer). That also went well.
Monday evening after work I switched my park lights on and blew the 15A fuse for the park lights/brake lights and dash lights. I've replaced the fuse and that too has blown.
I've also noticed the car doesn't idle too well now (with air con off).

Any help or suggestions would be welcomed.

Alan.

Go through whatever you did to the car and check all the wiring you touched.

Alan, i would suggest you have a short circuit in one of the dashboard lighting circuits. Perhaps a wire has been pinched and is shorting? Perhaps some debris horting out + and - ?

As for idle - i'm assuming the battery was disconnected whilst you were working on the car. There needs to be a "relearn" procedure undertaken as the EEC will have had certain parts of its memory cleared. It needs to 'learn' how to idle again under the various conditions. The poor idle is probably seperate to your short circuit issue.

Have a search around here - there are some great posts on relearning procedures.
