I dunno if this has been covered before - I did a quick search and didn't find anything, but anyway...
How are the autolocking doors supposed to work ? Take your keys out of the ignition and close all doors and after 30 seconds it locks ?? On my EF it seems to do it occasionally, but not very often

It does happen as a feature of smart-lock that if you unlock your doors on the remote but don't open your doors, the car will automatically lock after a short period (ie, 30 seconds).
Supposed to be a feature if you lock your car and if you bump your remote while walking away and accidentally unlock your doors, your car wont be left unlocked too long. I think this was a feature on the EF I had. Not sure about the BA I now have. |

AHHHH that's how it works!
That makes sense now that I think about it - it usually does it when I'm out somewhere and people are standing around looking at the car. I must unlock it and while they're looking under the bonnet etc it re-locks itself again. Thanks

That only works if the doors are not opened. If the doors are opened, the smartlock doesnt then lock the car

Yeah its a good and a bad thing, i have an el monty ghia with alarm so to open the boot the alarm has to be off, so what happens when working in the boot and then closing with keys still inside. Well i thought just climb through the back seat, nah cause the doors locked automatically!!!

Is that only a feature on teh high series BEMs?
Can it be turned off easily without a mod?

I've got an aftermarket alarm, that always locks the doors. Have to tell service places to leave the window down.

I reckon the best thing is to wire a spare key onto the car somewhere in case you ever get caught.

your insurer would love that - get them out of paying for your stolen vehicle.
