As the topic states, is it possible to take the horrid AU auto shifter knob out and replace it with one from a BA?

It would be a sleeker look for my interior.

Search there is a few blokes that have done this to ED and i think a EL shouldn't be that hard i think dellboy999 did it to a EA

I know it has been done with E series, but I'm yet to see an example in an AU

Perhaps I should get the BA knob, and see how I go.

You would have to figure out the button mechanism, does the ba gear shifter have a button?

has a button on the front. probably ask dellboy about how it works. probably would just be a case of making a custom length rod...

if you just want the knob in there, then it won't be a straight fit. the au< t bar knobs pushed the rod in the mechanism. the ba> ones pull it up.

if you want the whole shifter with the tip tronic and everything, maybe start by looking at the e series guide for it (its on here somewhere, do a search) and you'll find the majority of the principles will be the same in both cars

I don't want the whole assembly. Not really interested in the tiptronic, as I am doing a manual conversion later on this year. I am just over the look of the big shifter, and I like the look of the BA one. Guess I will just have to get one, pull mine apart, and see just what needs to be done.
