im buying an xr interior tomorrow and was wondering if anyones taken the dash and all plastics out and swapped em over. for anyone that has this is it hard? anything i should be aware of? and anyone willing to give me a hand
 haha

its not hard at all... just a matter of pulling out all the required screws etc.

I just done a complete changeover - XT to XR - everything except for floor carpet, roof and top of dash.
Easy to do except for the glove box section - suggest a six pack and patience!!!!! Make sure you have the proper tools and you will be OK.

You need a seat removal tool.. the rest are all fairly standard tools.

well im keeping my seats, cant afford leather yet
 got the middle console and gt cluster today, getting all the dash parts tomorrow so this weekend most should be in

hmm well i did the center console tonight, did anyone have issues with things not lining up properly? my tissue box holder doesnt sit in right anymore

just argue with it a bit and it will clip in. check that u havent caught on the wiring for the accessory socket

i have to rip it out now cos i found a crack
will try a lil better to fit it when it goes back in and hope it all lines up. thanks for your help so far everyone

Is this all happening in a BA?
By 'Centre Console' do you mean you're replacing the ICC and BEM or are you just doing the front facia? I'm curious to know. As the BEM is on the CAN bus and part of the keyfob authentication process, if you replace it your car won't start and you'll need to go to a Ford dealer to get it recoded. I'm wary of changing the instrument cluster too, as I'd read somewhere that a permanent inclearable DTC is registered in the PCM to flag that it has been changed. I know lots of people have done it, so maybe they just live with it and ignore it, or have found a way around it. Lukeyson |

thats not to do with cluster changing, its to do with resetting the odometre in a cluster...

excuse my ignorance but i thought the dash was pretty much the same but with different trim "spears" and a different cluster and different icc
|

well im still waiting on parts from a guy at work so i've done s**t all so far
the plastics in my ute are a light grey and the xr is black
|
