Hi, I came over from 'Aust Ford forums' to ask you some questions about your conversion to memory seats on drivers side. I have the 6 way seat with memory. Did you manage to get yours working and if so how did you do it. I hope you can help me as stuck at the moment.
Regards, Brian.

Just quickly, there's an extra plug on cars with the Seat Memory Module. There are various lines on the memory module connector that do certain things:

(1) Connect to the BEM so that your keyfob can be used to trigger a memory location
(2) Connect to the Pedals for Pedal Position memory
(3) Connect to the Mirror for Mirror Position memory.

I myself ended up swapping out the drivers-side main chassis loom to get the seats to work, but that was because I also wanted the BEM keyfob trigger and the memory mirrors to work.

I haven't put any effort into trying to get memory seats working on a standard loom to know what would have to be done, so unfortunately I don't have any help to offer you there. But if I were a betting man, I reckon it could be done.

Maybe. Maybe not.

i can see that there may be a logic pin numbered 267 that seems to run from the BEM to enable the seat memory. Workshop Manual indicates this needs to be at 12V to enable memory. But other than that it looks like 12V and GND come from existing connectors. But for that I can't be sure.

I tried to power my 8-way memory seats up in my lab with some manual pins connected, thinking that I could test the memory seats. The fact I couldn't get it to work means I didn't understand it 100%. But it worked fine with the right harness in the lab and subsequently in my car.

There are wiring diagrams for the body harnesses, the BEM, the mirrors etc - but there are no diagrams for the actual loom on the bottom of the seat that goes from the seat connectors to the various modules and motors. Some seats have 4-way non memory, some have 6-way non memory, some 6-way memory, some 8-way memory and the LTD even has 10-way memory. The passenger seats are either 6-way non memory or no power at all. There's not a single diagram to show how the harness under the seat is different between each version.

Thanks Lukeyson for the reply, much appreciated.
I also am trying to get the seat to work on my bench but no success.
I was wondering about the BEM will put 12v on it to see what happens.
If I get this going on the bench will post results.
Regards, Brian.

This thread has gone whacky again - page 8 of 7...

I'll spam it until it fixes itself.

I finally got in and bought the Loom that goes from the RH rear tail-light, and does both the reverse sensors and the towbar. Pics attached.

A bit more playing.

This is the guts of the towbar plug with the reverse-sensor cutoff. When I pull the old unit off I'm going to see how similar they are on the inside.

There's a pic of where the magnet goes in the flip-top lid, and how the extra magnetic rood switch in the casing is hooked up via the two outboard connections on the main socket.

With regard to the larger diameter holes, there are only two wires hooked up. What are these for does anyone know?

File comment: Main socket pins. Reverse-sensor cutoff at the two outermost - reed switch must be moulded into the plastic.

What colours are those two extra wires. should be able to look them up in wiring diagrams.
(pics to washed out for me to tell, one looks white, the other pink)

I'm surprised you haven't blown yourself (or car) up yet, with all the electrical work you do.
