hi guys,

i thought this one was already covered... but after searching i couln't find anything...

I was just wondering how i would go about changing my steering wheel over... preferably without the airbag breaking my nose.... if i was to take the fuse out would that work? or do i have to disconnect the battery to save the firker from going off?

Any help would be great

Cheers

Josh

I just took the airbag fuse out.

I was going to write a doco up on this, just never got around to it

Let me know if you need any pics, I took a few for the doc.

T-50 for the wheel bolt

I'll check later for the airbag screws.

dont forget to roll the car in a straight line with your hands off the wheel before you start to get the wheel as close to centre as possible before taking it off!! lol

you'll be able to help me do mine then when i get one (read: job)

ohh yeah, and its proly one of those things that cant hurt to leave it more than 5 minutes to let the airbag capacitor discharge. Pull the fuse the night before you want to do it or something. Then absolutly no worries

EF onwards the steering wheel sits on a square shaft, not on splines so this is not necessary.
If you don't line it up right putting the wheel back on its going to be very obvious (90º out)

g'day guys great tips there. just a quick question, how did you go about taking the two torx screws off the back of the steering wheel (that hold in airbag in) if the battery is disconnected, seeing as though you need to turn the wheel.

thanks,
Julza

You can still turn the wheel without the engine running. Just need more muscles.
