hey guys, my mates offered me his el fairmont for free, and i was going to pillage the gray interiour out of it to paint up so i can sell my cappa dash,, anyway the idea is that i'll leave the bare minium for it to run for burnouts,

does it only need an ecu and bcm?

all the dash wiring for the BCM/Smartlock and the key barrel for the smartlock unless you get a bypass... Bare minimum as far as what exactly? You'll want the motor with all bits and pieces... Depending what you do with the thermofans... You'll need the body loom for the fuel pump... You'll need the green and brown reallys... Headlamps and horn relays can go, will need the starter relay...

Me being me, if I was doing a car I'd strip it all out and make up a custom wiring loom for it all leaving the non essentials out... Get rid of as much confusing stuff as possible... Smartlock bypass... But that's me... Would even be half a task as I am always tinkering with this stuff... But for some people making up their own fuel injection harnesses may be a tad daunting... But as far as electrics, you'll need all the main looms currently in place for it to run...

I suppose weight isn't as much of an issue for a burnout car as opposed to a race car... More used to them stripping out every last ounce... A dash would be a no no in one of them... A mate has an ED he was going to race and it has a custom loom through it... Neat as and very simple (as simple as fuel injection gets anyway)...

my suggestion would be to strip out what you can for now so if u do kill it there's less worry about moving a dead car...

you can buy a CARBY manifold for the e series engine, that way you would only need starter motor power, coil power, and a manual trans, ive probably missed a few things but thats off the top of my head with no effort lol
