hey all
well, my front drivers seat has finally got kaput - i've been lucky so far with my last 3 EF's, but finally this one has gone so, the seat base moves now, as it has come off the framing in the front left corner, and its not much fun! so - i will be taking it to my neighbours workshop lunchtime on Thurs to get the welder onto it - has anyone done this before, and any suggestions to prevent it from happening again? cheers

no! lol - it will be fixed somehow! i don't care if i have to weld the living daylights out of the seat-base, it will not move after i've got near it!

Weld it with a MIG, its to thin to ARC weld. The cover and foam seperate from the frame easily, the cover clips over the seat frame edges. 4 Hex bolts to remove the base from the seat frame.
Cheers TW.

here is one bracket its hard to see
it the front one i think the original mounts onto the seat are 1 in each corner mine ripped out so i used some flat steel bent it to the shape then bolted it to the mounts that ripped out then riveted it to the seat.[/img] dont mind the file name

blind rivets aye?
should be strong enough just as long as the rivet and the bracket aren't dissimilar metals that will corrode each other. (though that blind rivet has broken off badly there, lucky it isn't visible ) Rhyso

Yeah that happened to my seat the first 6 months after I bought my EL. Its a common design Fault that got fixed with the AU's I believe. Anyway with mine I took the whole seat out one Saturday and Pop-riveted aluminum plates between the frame and the bottom and have had no hassles since

those rivet were a b**ch i tell ya and i think mild steel and alloy rivets or copper rivets should last forever in this case if they were in the wet it would be another story
