voxace wrote: LMAO you tool. You think your car is perfectly balanced how it is now, hmmm well you better move the drivers seat to the middle when there is no passengers, cos ya know man - I'd hate to see those RHS tyres wear out.
wouldn't the seat be better in the boot?

Check with the RTA first, but if its in an enclosed case, and mounted securely, I don't see why not... it would be an interesting mod. The only other problem I can think of, is the extra resistance due to the longer wires having to run to the boot...

Yeah, done it on my car, just repainted the engine bay, looks much neater in the boot.
Right next to the rear strut tower, (thats where its earthed) ... use some 4gauge or 2gauge cabling, You're also going to need descent termials, run one cable straight to the starter motor, and another one to the rest of the +12 leads that are all where the battery was. |

when i moved the battery to the boot in the magna (dont ask) i was told the battery had to go in a battery box and it had to be a sealed battery, because hydrogen in the cabin is bad! (sealed batterys still make hyderogen but much much less)
I was also forced to use 0 gauge cable to the starter, and because the cable was so thick it has to be run on the outside of the car.

You'd want to use a sealed battery even if you're not required to by law. An Optima Red- or Yellow-top would be good.

Umm you also need to allow for ventilation especially if you have it in the boot some batteries give off harmful fumes... |

mine is in the boot. make sure you run realy big cable cause it is a long way to throw power and you will run the battery flat or your car just won't run properly im currently running 2 huge positive cable's and the same for negative but it still drains so i will be increasing in size again

It has to vent to outside the car! Even with sealed batteries
The battery and the case need to be secured to the car. not case to car and battery to case. |

The battery and the case need to be secured to the car. not case to car and battery to case. Yeh all of that. They arnt to bad in Canberra though, it is the one thing that wasnt upsetting the rego people when I went through. The cable problem I solved by using 120vdc 600 amp cable. A little overkill but at the rite price at the time

im thinking bout moving my battery to the boot it has to be in a sealed box with the wires running under the car on the opposite side of the fuel lines for saftey and the starter wire has to be about 3 times thicker than normal to carry the extra current to the starter motor
