Hi all, I want to change from a low series(red bem to a high series(green) in the ED. What is the six pin plug for? Will it work without it?

it is an extra plug in the body loom for the extra functions the high series one handles. No it won't work by only plugging in one of them! You need to swap the loom over otherwise there's no point!

Thought as much. How much of the loom would I need?

Mate, you are confusing the smartlock module for the BEM. Common mistake. Remove the red box and your car won't start.

The BEM is located inbetween the headunit and handbrake. The 6 pin plug is the same on all box cars. Its the big plug on the BEM pictured thats different to the one on your car.

I thought the smartlock module was the little black one between the headunit and handbrake. Mine is back to front on how you are describing it. My apologies for she shoddy photography, it`s awkward laying under the dash taking photos at 9:30 at night :)

yeah I thought the same....thought the BEM was red, and the smartlock module was the blue one....or black in your case. F***ing better be the red one, I have one in the shed just haven't got round to changing it yet.
