Yes, you do for factory operation. And luckily I had put in the Fairmont loom and BEM so made it nice and easy. Or, read this wonderful tech doco by snap0964 {DESCRIPTION} and you could install one without it all. BenJ

Ah cool, pretty simple then. Might have to check the wreckers for a three pole switch that fits and look factory.

I hate bloody electric antenna's.. always end up breaking the masts...
best benefit of modern cars is that they have almost entirely removed the external antenna. |

That looks great Benj!
I can't wait to have EF gear all in, and be able to tinker like this! Good work. Andrew.

yeah, thats a good point.. Benj swapped motor and dash with EL, he could just as easily grabbed the whole front and dash looms and replaced the lot.

That is an option that many have been successful with, however, you also need to swap the body loom as well as the dash and engine bay looms.
In my opinion there is just as much work, if not more due things that could go wrong, in swapping out the entire looms. The car would be off the road longer as well I suspect. BenJ

Have you thought about painting the dash surround black like the EL GT.
I think it would tie in nicely with the black/woodgrain and door handles but a part of me thinks it might be a bit much black, just a thought. Car look great by the way.

IMO there is less that can go wrong by swapping the whole loom.
making 'adapter looms' and modifying plugs has to be the most common area for things to go wrong. for me, first time i turned the key everything worked because everything just plugs into what its meant to. it also gives you an oportunity to really clean up the engine bay looms.

Well, between us we have now established that there is more than one way to accomplish the same mod.
I say this is a good thing, as it gives other members considering the same mod more options on how to go about it. Cheers BenJ

Sometimes you'll need to mod items because you can't get what you want. Getting to the finished result is what matters. Actually, we could all own Ghia's/Fairlanes, etc - then little would be needed to be done. I'd like to buy an XH with Climate Control/trip computer/variable dimming, electric antenna, etc - unfortunately, I'm s**t out of luck.

{USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: More info about the AU antenna and Remote Central Locking please? Hi Mate I got the antenna from an AU wreck. I had to change the mast cover and the bottom bracket to fit the EB. The antenna itself is identical to the EB unit. For the remote central locking, I installed an alarm system, which also can immobilise the car. It is also able to open the boot by remote. You can get remote central locking kits from places like Jaycar etc. Cheers BenJ Just dont leave the keys on the seat, lol lucky the drivers window was down that day lol
