Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to transplant the above bits from a BF auto shifter to a BA auto shifter? I think the BF looks like a nicer setup than what i have in the XR and it looks exactly the same as what my girlfirend has in her XT :(

From what i have read the the knob will go across without a hitch, and maybe the boot with a little effort.. but i would prefer to replace the surround also.

incase i have no idea of what i am talking about (true in most situations) i have included a pic, that i grabed from another thread to illistrate the bits i am talking about.

This will be the begining of a series of interior mods that i plan to do to my XR, so expect to see a lot more questions from me 8-)

And if you can reccomend somewhere in sydney to source parts from, otherwise i will just try to get them from FTG

thanks heaps,

Well, if it counts of anything, I know that most of the surrounding parts are interchangeable - like the Drink Holder and the ICC, the winglest and the console box and lid.

I'd suspect that those bits are interchangeable from 4 speed to 4 speed, but I'd have reservations about 6 speed to 4 speed compatibility.

4 speed BF is the same as the 4 speed BA, ud think they are interchangable, because if u can order the bf 6 speed or 4 and the surround is the same they shouldnt be that different, the 6 speed is just the look of the 4 speed with a boot and some grips glued onto the shifter

have you tried fitting the BF plastic surround (the one with the P R N D on it) and boot onto the BA shifter assembly??

Adam - im pretty sur eit wont fit on - it was at least 8 months ago when i had teh idea - ill double check but it doesnt have the plastic shaft like teh ba one does - th ebf assembly is different enough for it not to fit with out changing the whole Shifter assy

It has to be unbolted from underneath the car
