Hi, what colour are the LCD screens (odometer, trip computer and standard ICC) supposed to be in a BFII XR6?

From what I read before getting the car, I was expecting the LCDs to be blue, but they've turned out to be more like a white colour. Just wondering if this was correct?

Otherwise, anyone know if the colour of the LCDs can be changed?

Certainly not a big deal but it would just match the blue dash illumination a lot better.

Cheers

They're that grey colour on all models I think. Blue lcd screens would be saweet though.

Yep. Even the FPV's are the same.

I've 'had' to go to the trouble of swapping the white LEDs in the window switches to XR/FPV blue (they're hard to find, the common blue LEDs are the wrong colour).

You CAN change the colour of the LCDs, but it's a tough ask, you need to be REALLY good with a fine soldering iron, and risk permanently damaging you're cluster as you have the physically remove the LCD screens from the circuit board to get at the LEDs.

As cool as all blue would look (especially with blue screens on phone and MP3 player), changing colour just sounds like waaaaay too much risk and effort. Frankly, the illumination still looks great as it is!!

Thanks heaps for your advice.

As well as being too much effort, having blue instead of white on the LCD display way pose contrast problems at night. The good thing about having a white background is that it constrasts very well with the black LCD. If you change to a white, it may be more difficult to read.

And oh yes ... I don't think too many people would be keen on potentially destroying their cluster just for the sake of changing a light.

G'day gli, I wasn't aware the BF Mk II's did this. Any chance of uploading any night shots so we can see what it's like? Cheers.

Hi gli.

Just looked at the photos now -- the LCD screens in the cluster a white backlight just like the BAs, not blue.

I thought you said in your post that the BF's Mk II have blue backlight for the LCDs?
