Hey people, just went for a drive to local shops and went to lock the car, no sounds of the door locks activating and then the car beeps 3 times to give the indication the car didn't lock. I checked the fuses and the 30amp Door lock was blown, I went to replace that but it blew once I put it in, I then thought maybe cause the doors were open. I closed the doors and it blew again.

3 fuses, and the car is sitting there unlocked.

I havn't down anything to warrent creating a short. The car is exactly the same as it was on Monday and Tuesday. I am thinking something happened Tuesday night but I don't know, how can s**t just break without warrant.

Should I try again with the battery disconnected?

Geoff.

It has been raing pretty constant the car is in a driveway not under cover, what contacts? I might have to push the missus car out of the carport and put my car there.

Just went out again and blew another 2 fuses.... I don't get it I have down NOTHING, haven't installed anything, havn't played with anything what the f**k!!!!!

I just went around the car opened all the doors and eyed the loom and didn't see nothing outta the whack, checked the loom going to the boot also, which I had to crawl into too open. I can only lock the drivers door with the key.

well depending on the actual location of the short, i'd try d/c each lock 1 at a time and see if you can isolate it. this however will only help to narrow it down a smidge if it doesnt do anything, ie the fault isnt in the doors or boot.
may not be a short either. one or more locks may be creating load due to failure of some sort???
few bits for ya to ponder.

edit - and you owe me some sort of payment for making me have to clean my screen after chasing that stupid bug in your signature.......

No I have moved my car under the car port and disconnected the battery... I had another look around the door jams and boot jam and doesn't look like nothing is pinched etc

Just had a thought that maybe that the power antenna loom is touching the body maybe?

So tomorrow I will put a new fuse in and then get the missus connect the battery to see if that helps..

I can find alot of material on EF/ELs but none on AU.

Geoff.

I had a somewhat similar problem with my EF. It actually ended up being that the wiring from the front left indicator was getting piched by the door hinge. So every time i opend the passenger door it shorted and blew the fuse.

Dont know if this will help you at all.
