Do it with white leds and use a white/clear sheet for it. Gives off a slightly blue light that looks way classier than the imo tacky blue everyone goes for. Will post some pics up tomorrow if i remember

Theater/Stage lighting coloured gels would be perfect.....they can take a hell of allot of heat.
I am going to try using some coloured lighting gels in my cluster using the standard globes...should work pretty well I reccon....Might also try some white LED's with it too.

BAH! I took photos of the cluster lit up tonight, but my camera is very ghey and doesn't like night snaps. But it does look good, all the light is even but a tad too dark. Might have to track down something more transparent but slightly thicker than cellophane.

I would stick with the plastic binder still, just find a thinner one. I found a perfect one for the job this morning at BI-LO. Also got a couple other binders to compare, and some purple see through cello wrapping paper. Will post up results later today. |

A tip, dont bother with cellopane or plastic binder... it aint gonna work.
I wasted a couple hours trying different combos last night and nothing seemed to shine colour properly. I tried 2 layers of purple cello wrap, and it looked a treat when held up in front of my kitchen light, but when it was in the car, hardly anything could be seen.... almost black!! I guess it could work if stronger, brighter lighting is used in the cluster. |

Geez is it really that hard to go get the coloured plastic binder for $2 from K-mart and do it?
the gell packs won't work for one reason, look at the lumens power of the lights they need to shine through them! Cellphane, too bloody thin give that idea up. ppl and tested and tried all these out and the ones that work are the ones that work, follow by others trials. Phew sorry early morning ranting takes it out of me.

I tried plastic binder smartass.
Yes cello paper is too thin, thats why i tried 2 layers and it looked the goods under the kitchen light, but the cluster wasnt strong enough to shine through. |

With the lighting gels, look at the amount of light that comes out the other side of it thwn you have a powerful lught going into it! We are talking close proximity with not very powerful globes. It is not like we are trying to light up a damn room/the whole car from it....
