Ford have three different boot struts.
Standard boot. Boots with spoiler EL GT. IIRC they are not very expensive.

I'd go with the middle one unless you have an EL GT wing. Fitting too strong a strut will stress the strut mount and they are prone to breaking their spot welds on the EF/EL.

So does the boot strut for a spoiler mount actually help lift the boot lid easier than the standard boot strut?

I hope so!! Just put the XR spoiler on the back of mine and now can hardly lift the bastard!! Surely the spoiler isn't that heavy!! Bloody leverage.

ppl with spoilers will need a heavey duty strut(the medium one). Else the boot wont pop up properly.
we recently replaced outs. Did the job.

Yes, but fit it to a boot without a spoiler and it will give too much assistance, the boot will open too quickly.

Well my current struts don't do much at all. If I hit the boot release button, the boot lid doesn't move. I have to lift it by hand and there is some weight to it.

Replace those with some new ones and it will work fine. Mine didn't lift when I got the car and I had them replaced under warrenty. On a hot day the boot flys open, on a cold day it lifts gently.

Ahhh so thats just stuffed boot struts on my car. They are just meant to pop the bootlid open all the way by themselves. Neat.
