im not sure if this is meant to happen with the EF boots, but are they supposed to stay upright when open? with my boot... i need to hold it up if the ground isnt flat... found out the hard way (OUCH) lol.
is there meant to be some hydraulic thing to keep it up? did the EF's come with that or is mine just missing it.

EF's should have hydraulic struts that go directly back into the boot.
Yours sound as though they are stuffed. I don't think that the boot would stay up even on flat ground without them. The boots are fairly heavy. |

My boot is heavy, but it stays up. Was wondering about replacing the struts on them. VNs to VS commodores uses two pieces of spring steel i believe, and it seems to work better. Dont need replacing, and it lift the lid up by itself.

Ford used the crossed peices of metal back in the day of the X series falcon.
I'm not sure how far they go back though, my FC LTD definately did, so therefore it goes back at least as far as the XD, everything my parents or myself have owned older than that was a wagon so not sure. I am pretty sure that a mates XC GXL does also, if that is the case back to the XA's, probably before that too I would imagine. |

ok i just went and checked my dads ba and my ef and in my boot there is no black pieces (hyraulidc strut).
so this would probably be the reason for it not staying up.. and yes.. the boot is heavy... i felt it how much are these struts?

Pull the shock tower covers off, or try and see through to where the strutts connect to the car, i thought mine were fagged, but one had actually broken at the weld point, theres a flat plate on the end of the sturt which i screwed back into just behind the rear seat and all fixed

stock XR spoiler? if so yeah, they'll handle it. If got the stock struts and a GT spolier - they're heavy.
