Hi all.
For a while now my drivers seat in my EF has been broken....Well i think. When i sit on it you can tell something isnt right. It makes a click noise and does the same when i get out. I'm guessing a joint is broken in the frame. Has anyone had this happen to them? and how do i fix it? I was thinking i might try just going to a pannel beater, see if they know. Any ideas???????? Thanks

I've lost two supports that connect the Seat Base to the Adjusters in my XR6. I tried Aryldite, but that lasted about a week. I was going to contact a Welder to see if I could get the bracket welded to the base of the seat, but I managed to score a Leather Interior, so I'm not going to bother.
It isn't all that hard to remove the seat and take a look at what is the problem with it. Good Luck.

Pulling out seats is easy. You need a Torx (Torq) 50 bit and socket wrench handle. I've sold five seats out of my trashed EF's to people who've destroyed theirs, same as you.
You can get the welded depending on where it is, but if it only makes a noise and doesn't bother you that much then why bother? |

I've had a few EF/EL's do this. It's very easy to remove the seat. The last one I did it wasn't cracked terribly so IIRC I used a couple of big washers and bolted the base back together.
Normally you'd get the base rewelded or go get another from the wreckers and swap your trim/foam cushion back on. |
