The silver crap is bubbling on me ba shifter and selecter thingy,has this happened to anyone else or am i just lucky :roll: :roll:

Its a reasonably common thing to happen on BA autos, although neither of mine have had it. Ford will do it under warranty next time it's in for a service if it's still under new car warranty.

Lucky i got the extended warranty..While their at it they can fix the knock in the donk when its cold,the rattling in the front and the bang in the back.Apart from that its a -great- car.

lol @ hard to do.. this part is so easy to change unless you have no arms.. :lol:

Common proplem.. same with the top of the shifters on autos.

i just hated doin them the handbrake with the seat in is an absolute pain i reckon

why do you need to remove the handbrake to take a shifter surround off?

as on the ba autos to remove the surround you have to remove the centre consol and to remove that centre console the handbrake has to be removed and hung off to the side as it bolts to it. it may look easy but the bloody surround is under the dam centre console so thats the reason why the handbrake has to be removed

nah man - he is talking about teh auto surround which just pops off - takes 5seconds - i think your thinking of something else!

neo_nick you taliking bout what i said or what someonew else said as i used to be a ford dealership mechanic and know a fair bit but not everything bout the ba and had my thumb in all bits of the ba pie and have done several of these and there is no way it comes out without removing the centre console . manual on the other hand pops straight off
