Best to see if they can mount it on EF rails.

i just thought of doing it as a small home job, with preferably a cheapy autobahn bucket seat. nothing too major or expensive.

There was an article in Street Machine when they were building up VU 4 U ute.
They made up some brackets to bolt it up to the standard seat rail. Pretty sure thats the only legal way. Didnt look to hard.

depending on what sort of aftermarket seat you go for will dependon the work you needto get done.
The cobra ones i have purchased cant be easily attached to the existing fordrail setup in the EF. So I bout the cobra rails and am waiting for af riend of a friend to fabricate up some mounts to attach to the rails and use the existing fordmount holes. Its taking so long because of trialing different setups that will get the engineering approval.

true.. the easiest (and most legal) way is to make a bracket to bolt the EF rails to the bucket... then straight in the car..

show us a pic dude of yours....one thing to remeber guys welding up your own custom stuff isnt the best option these changes need to be engineered too remebr to be legal...better safe then sorry to they have to be engineered for a reason....the seat and rails are all that stop u apart from the belt from being shredded thru a windscreen

dont worry they will hold. my brother wrote off his old ef, straight into a light pole at 80km/h, car rolled 3 times was an absolute mess. he know's he did wrong and hes an d***head for doin it but we put in exact same brackets and seats and they were fine didnt move at all didnt twist or buckle ended up takin the seats out and selling them. even compared the brackets to my dads old wagon which came from the factory with buckets and would be just as strong if not more so. best to use sum thick steel 8-10mm thick or so. will get sum pics up as soon as i get the camera from him in the next couple of days.

I bolted some Cobra Tropies (fixed back race seats - around $800.00 each) straight onto my EF rails... Bolts holes lined up perfectly and everything!
