The way I get rid of it after towing is to remove all the brake lamps, turn on the ignition and hit the brakes a few times. Turn off the ignition and replace the bulbs. You must be carefull as some times the contacts in the bulb holder can touch the earth without a bulb in place and blow the fuse.
I must get around to moving the trailer connection to before the sense circuit. Cheers TW.

Hi TW,
Thanks for the reply. I checked the trailer plug out and its connected to the trailer curcuit, but as a matter of interest I pluged the trailer on and pressed the brakes a few times and the bulb out problem went away. Disconnected the trailer and the problem was back . Will try disconnecting the plugs that lead to the rear light assembly and do as you suggest and see what that does. Regards, Jacko. |

Thats the same problem I have every time I tow, it learns the load of the trailer lamps and when they are disconnected it panics. You need to remove one lamp from the car when you disconnect the trailer and press the brake a few time then replace the bulb and then it will be back to normal. I have toyed with the idea of connecting 2 bulbs in the boot for when the trailer is not on the car, that way I can monitor the trailer as well.
Cheers TW.

Hi, twason
I retraced the wiring to the trailer plug today just to double check, and it is all wired up to the trailer socket. so it should be by passing the current load sensing, but its not hows this for bizzar, I pluged my test light into the trailer socket and it put enough load on to kid the load sensor into thinking all was back to normal, took the test light out and back to bulb out warning There must be a seriious fault in thir design. I rang FORD and all they could suggest is to book the car in and they will have their auto elect. look at it for $$$ Bugger them. its easer to just unplug the plug to the RH tail loght in the boot and press the brake and then plug it back in and the error goes away. I hardly ever tow a trailer so its no drama. Thanks for your responce. Regards, Jacko. [/quote] |
