short answer : 'yes' with a BOOM and a HAHAHA!
abbreviated long answer : no... really depends on the neons but generally you need to fuse them so they dont explode, also turning them off is always a good thing. What kinda neons and why ?? |

Put a fuse somewhere in the circuit so it will burn out before the neons do. It would be wise as those glass neons i would imagine would cost a packet. Dont they run on something like 1000 volts  ?

well listen to what is being said...
plug it straight it to the battery, and well, cover your eye, caus they will blow do some maths find out what size fuse you will need and put that in e.g Battery ----FUSE---fully sick neons

You need to put a fuse on the circuit as close to the battery as possible (Same as wiring up your amp, doesnt need to be heaps close but better safe then burned out...)
You could do what I did with my EA, it was packed full of neons (NEONZ BRO!!) i ran all the power cables back to the dash and joined them all together and ran it through a sound sensitive switch (The type you get with the 'dancing neons' for your headunit) and just put that plug straight into the cigarette lighter. Too much load on it and you will pop the fuse (But not your car!) If you have to many neons to do that (I had 4-5 small ones running off the cigarette lighter circuit) then you will need to run a power cable off the battery to a fuse then a 12v+ rated relay, then into a switch you will use to turn em on and off, then into all the neons. To work out what rated fuse you will need you will have to find out max power consumption of each individual neon (Or find 1 and guess  ) then be sure to buy a fuse rated a little higher then that.

caus your going to want to be able to turn it off caus neons are gay
