As the title says, I would just like to know if it can be done to the existing rear seat and how.

Cheers Matt

nope. Brackets would be missing off your seat frame that hold the headrest. What you would need to do is obtain a set of futura/fairmont seats, and move your cloth onto the frame, and bolt that fairmont frame (with your XR cloth) into your car. It is a simple job. Any EA-EL rear headrest will fit, along with the EA-ED front headrests. For some reason, the EF/EL front headrests are different.
It's a bit of f**k around, but it is something that you can easily do yourself.

If you are getting them re-trimmed, just hand the fairmont seat to the trimmer instead of yours

If you want, I can help you. Somewhere in the garage, I have a EF fairmont set of seats. What sort of headrest are you after? I have a pair of small square (EF) ones, the larger EL ones and I even think I had a set of doughnut ones somewhere.

Ok, you want the doughnut headrests. I have one pair here, which I am keeping. The other pair I had are front ones (which are different to the rear ones).
I know that I had more of these, probably at my brother's place. I have too much s**t to fit in my garage (well overdue for a clean up)
I will have to head out there some time, and see what is there. Failing that, there were plenty in pick and payless.

but I can definitely help with the seat. you can have the back part of a fairmont seat (and the matching headrests for that seat). the base of the back seat is rooted anyways. PM me to organise a time and place. A friday night meet would be fine, if that suits you
