hi.
how hard is it and how long does it take to replace the interior carpet, what do you have to undo to get the carper up besides the seatsand will any electronics get messed up, i know the cruise control modules under the console. is the power windows and floor wiring stuck to the floor out the way of the carpet besides unplugging the power windows button |

Take out: Front/Rear Seats, console ,scuff plates and front kick panels then pull up carpet, all wires will be fixed to body(floor) then lay new carpet and replace what was taken out.

What easpak91 said. Depending on the car i guess. It's not hard to do. It doesn't really take that long to do. If you have the tools and the know how maybe in or less then 2-3. Depends how good you.

is that less than 2-3 hrs if everything goes ok.
how do you take off the gear leaver for the floor shift auto will it mess the button up that you push to change gears in the auto. do you unscrew the handle or the nut under it and will the handle go back in the right place every time you remove it or do you have to align it will the console go straight back in the right spot and the back vents still work or do you have to align it so it works. will the cruise control and power windows still work if you unplug the modules and plug them straight back in if they work well at the moment |

Depends what car you have, but judging by what your asking, undo the nut first while holding the shifter firmly in position, cant remember what way you turn it, but its a lock nut, you turn that one way and hold the shifter handle in place till its loose, then unscrew the shifter off the shaft then unscrew the nut off aswell. The button wont stuff up so dont worry, the button will seem like its stuck in because the shaft isnt sitting inside the shifter mechanism. Putting it back is the reverse or removal, put the nut on all the way down to the bottom of the shaft, then screw the shifter down as far as it will go while being in the correct position then screw the lock nut up to lock it in place.
Dont worry about the vents or nothing they all just clip in to the console. As for the power window buttons etc, and dont worry about them not working again when you plug them in after disconnecting them, as long as they havent shorted themselves out you'll be fine. |

Tell us what car you are going or doing this on. So the right person in here can give you a definite answer. And the 2-3 hours is an approximate (depending on the person's experience). It looks to me like this is your first time doing this. As i said tell us what car it is im sure there is already a thread for what you want to know.

I have just done this today in my mums ED Futura that has EB2 Fairmont seats in it. Took 1.5hrs for removal of seats, trims, LPG hardware from under the drivers seat & the carpet, then to fit new carpet, the lpg hardware, all the plastic trims & the seats. The interia is much nicer place to be now with nice clean & not torn carpet.
I will be doing the same job on my white Xr8 sometime this week. Cheers ToranaGuy
