On a couple of my previous cars (European ones), if I forgot and left any of the power windows open and I pressed the central locking keypad to lock the doors, it automatically closed any/all the windows that were left open.
Has anyone done something similar on a BA? If so, would you care to share how you did it. If not, share any ideas on what and how…

I have this, its part of my alarm..
You can get "auto window" kits from places like JB (im told) and jaycar which you can put in to do so.. not 100% sure how to do those tho. Cost i hear is about 50 to 100 for either back/front

Here is some info on how they are wired up...
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=6 Rhino, Jaycar(At one point), and a couple of other places sell them, for roughly $50 or so per 2 windows.... The only problem with them is that.... 1) You need to have a good condition battery. (All 4 windows will wind up on Smartlock Lock, which pulls almost 30 Amps... The windows will stop winding up if the voltage drops too low) 2) Your window guides are clean, and the windows operate smoothly in the up position..... The doco explains how it is done on the E Series Falcons.... On the BA, you may have some problems fitting the module near the switches... In which case, you may need to run 1 wire to the Power window switch in the drivers door, To power the Up line on the motor, from the module... If the module is to be mounted elsewhere...

Thanks Xyphoid. Looking at the link, it looks like a time consuming yet a simple operation. Probably need to spend most of the time finding the right location for the box and wiring etc. Also thanks for your advise. I will do it first on the Futura Wagon which is a 03-04, before doing it on the GT-P (my Toy) which is only 6 months old. All I need to do now is find someone in Perth selling them.

go on ebay, look for "window lifter" or auto window and yo uwill find a 4 window lifter for aprox $45 and its SO easy to hook up its not funny, dont let the depth of the instructions confuse u.
1 line to central locking lock, then others just split into your existing line so it feeds power to put your windows up when u lock your car. quite easy |

Is it possible/easy to disable it occasionally so in summer you can leave your window down a bit or is it always on once hooked up?

You could, I guess, install a switch in either it's powe rline or it's trigger line to disable it.

Yeah, the trick is to use a diode on the central lock line coming from your BEM...
What happens then is you can lock the car with your key (Not Remote), and the windows will not wind up... Lock it with the remote, and they will..... Im pretty sure there is info in the doco on that...

Can you get "rapid cool down"? Like in the Volkswagen Passats. You put your key into the door lock, turn it one way, all the windows go down, and turn it the other and the windows go up.

Just had a look on ebay, and found this one that winds the windows up 1 at a time, to save the load on the battery and such.

I think if you had two of these automatic winder thingys, hook one up to the 'up' wires, hook the other up to the 'down' wires, and hook the don unit to another trigger. eg. my alarm has an unused aux trigger. So I guess I could do that.
