My demister switch and cruisecontrol switchs have a chalky feel to them. The dimister has a thickish crust and the cruise is just surfaced base. Can these be lightly sanded and painted ??

If so, I would presume that vinyl paint would be the way to go but I was thinking of one of those shiny paints that I have seen at Supercheap. (not the chrome paint)

Mine are the same. I think it's a common thing for EA - ED's. I presume thats what car you own?
I tried Armoral but did nothing, Actually it looked great for about 2 minutes but once it dried it was back to that faded grey look. The console in my EB is the same way.

Most people that I have heard of used a little bit of toothpaste on a toothbrush to fix the buttons.

I used some soapy water and a sponge, and a little scrubbing.

Didn't come up too bad, but not as good as what I hear toothpaste brings.

Hmm, me wonders how Voxace discovered this. Playing with babyoil in the car and accidently spilt it on his chalky buttons? :P

Well I could suggest something else that works wonders too, but we won't go there!

I used "Black Trim Wax" on my ones in an old EB Ghia I had.

They were almost white when I bought the car and after one go with this stuff they looked brand new and the writing stood out really well.

I got the stuff from Marlows, now Super Sheep Auto's. It is really handy on all the outside window trims and C pillar covers as well. Much better than Armourall. A bottle lasts for ages as well.

If anyone is interested I will check out who makes the stuff.

Phil
