Hi guys, ive searched the forum and researched the technical documents on changing a BEM in my EF but there was just a couple of things that I couldnt clearly get the gist of...

Now the removal/installation is easy, when its in and 'plugged' in im assuming the ignition has to be off at this stage?

After that it says to turn the ignition to "on" (so lights on the dash on?) and leave for 30 minutes or more until the smarlock cycles. The technical document said that the light must be pulsing, now is this pulsing like it usually does or will it flash in a different sequence. The thing that confused me most is if it hasnt learnt it will be a solid light but the car will still crank over. Does this mean I have to disconnect and start again?

Any help appreciated

Ash

Im replacing for another low series out of an EF GLi.

My current BEM wont let the car start unless you give it a tap and its also intermittently bringing the air bag light on (unless thats something else?)

It will flash at a higher rate than normal until it has learnt the barrel. 30 minutes in EF and 60 in EL.
The locks may or may not cycle at the end of the learn process, best wind down a window before you start as a precaution. If it is cranking over but it has not learnt the barrel then check the 5 amp fuse has not blown, also it could be the new BEM is stuffed.

Thanks Twason.

Does the learning process also include it learning the keyfob or will i have to separately make it learn that too?

No the keyfobs will be a seperate procedure once finished. Check the owners manual for the procedure.
