It is doable if the search function was accurate I would quickly post some posts up relating to it. I have seen it done in an XF and few Boxcars. In the end it sits there without no drama but the vent tubes need to be played around with (the tubes that go to the rear vents)

I must admit I would love to see a ba center console, as they have have the cool hidey flap over the cupholders.
I was toying with the idea of modifying an ef one but couldn't fit it, due to window switches.

the other thought is have you checked out mounting them in your dash, there was a thread where someone fitted one of the slide out units like in various jap makes, they work pretty well.

Fitting an AU console is pretty straight forward and the easiest with minimal modification

No write up is neccessary as it is pretty much a straight forward swap. The only mods you have to do to the AU console is: Modify the AU console air duct to fit the output duct that comes out from under your dash as it is smaller than the AU one and You will notice when you take out the EB console there is two screws inside the console which secures it to a braket on the floor so you will have to Drill holes in AU console to line up with that floor bracket (which is on the floor between the 2 front seats). Make sure you do your duct mod first and then drill your holes in the AU console for the mounting bracket. Hope that helps

AU consoles never had power window switches they placed them on the drivers door arm rest. I am currently putting power windows in my car and mounting power window switches on the side of the console, just underneath the arm rest. I am using the same switches as are on the EF/EL rear doors, there is enough room to place 2 on either side (see pic) which will allow me to open and close all windows, i wont be putting the lock switch as i dont think there is need for it.
