BA's use LED's. They are not that easy to change like they used to be.

sure they are :p. just a whole lot more expensive. You need to procure an XR Cluster and ICC

Either that or change your whole ICC and Cluster to the XR one. The LEDS are surface mounted even in the cluster which means you need to be pretty handy at soldering to change them without damaging anything. They are very small.

I can change the LED's in the cluster for you check my site http://ford.degabrielle.com.au
I currently dont do ICC's , but I am looking at setting up a rig to be able to test them soon. Matt

so from what i can read you want to change the lights in your ba to blue(the xr clusters are not blue they are purple)
this task is very simple i managed to do it and before i did the conversion i had only installed stereo's and put led's in door handle's so if you know how to solder than you will be fine if you don't well get au matt to do it he does a great job and his work is amazing plus he has a world of knowledge on these parts.. in saying that my conversion cost me $8 becuase i already had a soldiering iron and solder here is a picture to show you what a ba fairmont cluster looks like in blue "NOT" xr |

They are PLCC2 style SMD LED's. The XR/FPV Blue are 440nm in colour. Not that easy to come by, I ended up buying a reel of 3000 and a largish expense.
Its relatively easy to do but can be tedious if you havent soldered SMD components before. I have a full test bench setup to do this sort of stuff, with custom designed software to allow me to calibrate the needles once I put the cluster back together. There is a post on one of the other ford forums that describes how to do it. Matt

if you have never soldered before do not even try to attempt this as the copper soldering pads are very delicate and if they get to hot they will lift , if this happens good luck getting it to work ..
