I currently have had my EA SPAC 2 (mid 1990) for over 2 years now and have never noticed a light on my instrument cluster which reads "CHECK AI B". Its never come on before but saw it today when the sun was shining directly on it. I checked the owner manual for the standard SPAC and Fairmont Ghia but found nothing on what it is, or rather, what it stands for. By the way i have the instument cluster with the tacho and oil pressure, etc. Any help would be appreciated as i cant find my answer anywhere else. Cheers :)

Automatic Load Leveling... Most likely. Its on some high-series (Fairlane, Ghia).

Check your manual for the Load Levelling Suspension. It should be in there somewhere. I remember reading it in a NA Fairlane's manual.

As stated ALB stands for AntiLockBrakes (marketed as ABS).
While the cluster may have the warning light, more than likely your car doesn't have them so don't worry about it.

I thought ABS came in late EB????

And I thought Ford used "ABS" as an acronym ... whereas Honda use "ALB" in the early days as an acronym.

I have tried searching for "Check ALB" ... and I turn up nothing anywhere ... maybe someone with an EA service manual will have more luck though.
