I have an EL fairmont and i have recently replaced the globes in my climate control with blue ones, when i put it back in no heat came out so i reset it
and it fixed it. Two days later and again there is no heat so i reset it again but this time the screen said E2 while i held in the buttons and flashed off when i released them and still no heat. Any one know whats up? I'll look at the hoses tomorrow in the light of the day.

Sounds like the plug at the back might not be connected properly. E2 is the blend door motor, which you didn't go near, so check the electrical connection.

It could be that by unplugging it you have forced it to do a self test when it was powered on. It's quite possible the blend door motor is stuffed, it's a common problem.

expensive if someone does it for you, but cheaper if you do it yourself.

it requires you to remove the whole dash. then removing the heater core thingy. And that my friend is where the blend motor sits.

More time consuming than expensive!

Around $50 for a motor plus $250 for someone to do it!

unless of course.. you do it yourself, the whole dash has to come out.

5 hours should fix you up.. for a first dash pull.

This is most likely - if one or both of the plugs are not clicked in properly, an E2 fault can come up - I know this from experience.

The BDM motor can be cycled using 12v, and the feedback resistance checked with a multimeter - this should be done on an item before installing, or can be done from the dash plugs before pulling the dash to check a suspect item. The doco on here has the pinouts.

Bit more info plz, have no real clue what I'm doin. I would like to do it myself to save money, but considering i stuffed it from doin a simple globe change i think I'll leave it to the pro's, although spending $200+ just to have heat is a bit much. But I'm also sick of all the whining I get from my passengers on cold nights and it would help to have it working when i eventually sell it.

I'd be thinking you would be spending a little bit more than $300 to do a blend door......

...unless of course you are going to a chop shop mechanics.... in which case, good luck to you!

If you choose to do it yourself, replace your heater core and AC evaporator core at the same time. Not hard to do, but will mean far less chance of another dash out/heater air box removal in the short term.

Going to get quotes soon and see what $$$ i'm looking at, if it is too high I"ll have a crack at it myself, if someone could give me a bit of an idea of what i need to do it would be appreciated. I know how to take out the cluster but thats as far as I've been. I'll get the parts from the wreckers and get the practice there.

The heater box doesnt need to come out. What are you guy's on? I wrote apost on how t replace it ages ago. Go digging for it :p

True, but if you are going to go most of the way, why not do the whole lot.

EF/EL's are getting to the point now where evap's and heater cores are going to start leaking........ might as well kick on with some preventitive maintenance!

That's if you're doing it yourself.....
