The backlight has failed in my EF fairmont so basically you cant see it unless its really dark at night. Is it possible to change the bulb? or would i need a new unit?
Cheers Will

yep...easy to do, just remove the 5 or so screws that hold the dash surround on, then pull it off out of the way. There are 3 screws above the instrument cluster, and one screw either side of the steering wheel inder the lip. Just pull it off a little, then unplug all the connectors to the boot release, central locking etc...
4 screws hold on the climate control box, just undo them and the unit will come away. Bulb for the backlight is the top bulb in the back. Just pull it out, and replace....simple! |
