Hey guys, just picked up a 1997 EL Fairmont Ghia today, as I was driving out of the sellers driveway, I turned off climate control, turned it back on, the LCD panel has nothing on it, but all the functions still work?

How do I get the LCD panel back?

Thanks much.

How do I take it out? Does it just come out with a flat blade screwdriver?

You'll need to remove the dash fascia (the bit around the dash cluster, A/C and down to where it marries up with the centre console).

Once that's off, the CC module is a peice of cake.

Pretty simple.

First remove the ash tray to gain access to the single screw that holds the radio surround into place. Pull the radio surround holding from the bottom...the right side of the surround is held in by a clip so should just pop out once you give it a bit of a yank. Once removed there are plenty of screws to be removed. I think there are 2 screws behind the surround just removed. 3 screws on the underside of the cluster frame area, one near the boot/petrol release button, one screw near the "lock door" button. Pretty sure that's all of them. Once they are removed the dash fascia pretty much comes off...beside the top left side of where the trip computer/clock/centre vents are...that part of the fascia is once again, held in by clips from the inside, a bit of careful tugging will see it come loose.

Once that's removed there are 4 screws holding the Climate control unit into the dash, remove them and the CC just pops out. Try not to drop a screw behind the dash, most likely you will lose it down there.

Behind the CC, remove the top bulb holder (just a rubber piece) and replace the bulb. Reinstall everything and it should all be good to go.

Hope that helps.

Thanks all for the info. I just replaced the globe for the climate control and it was a piece of cake following your guidelines.
 Local Ford dealer was going to charge $9.30 for one globe. I bought a packet with 2 globes in it from Repco for $3.99. :D

Thanks again for your help and advise. :D

Check that the demister is working when pressed, there is a possibility to swap the plug with another switch.
