I did it over christmas, was very easy! Only pain in the a*** as GTBob says were the two heater hoses...those fuickin spring hose clamps are a pin in the nuts...I promptly replaced them with proper hose clamps!
Was a 2 man job getting the airbox back in, one holding the f**k on, someone in the engine bay putting nuts on.....but all in all a very straight forward process! |

Do we have progress pictures of anyone doing this. Dont have an EF/EL but would still be interested to see how it all goes / gets done

I did mine without removing the stock heater box. Just had to cut a bigger hole in it for the FSC (easy task), and fit the BDM (not so easy, but much easier than going to all the trouble of removing the heater box).

yep... http://fordmods.datamine.tk/gallery.asp ... %20Control although it is by no means highly detailed. You kinda forget to take photos when your up to your elbows in dash.

The internal metal plate around the FSC hole needs to be removed (drill out 3 rivets) - take out the recirc box (3 x 10mm nuts) makes it much easier. There's no room in an XH to fit the BDM in it's default position - rebend the bracket legs and cut off the plug support, mount the bracket flush with the airbox front, fashion a link for the BDM motor arm to BD arm (can use the original pivot link) - this can be made from the old temp control metal rod. Bend the rear leg around to the RHS - you can then access and mount all 3 legs.
Sounds complicated, but IMO is easier than removing the airbox. But in an XH it's no advantage.

hoses are off as well, so heaterbox is ready to come out & be replaced - which is good!
