well, i finally got off my a*** & started my climate control upgrade last night after work :)

45mins of work left me at the point of being able to remove the dash completly - just need someone to give me a hand to unclip all the plugs whilst the dash is held out. i'm grabbing the full fairmont dash from someone, so i won't be needing to swap looms over, just the entire dash :P

tonight i hope to get the dash out of the car, and start undoing the bolts & hosing for the heaterbox - from memory 5 nuts on the engine-bay side, 2 x A/C hoses, and 2 x coolant lines. then i need to find that bloody air-temp sensor... :?

hopefully i can have it all done in the next week, just doing bits here & there after work etc - now that i know what to do, its making things one hell of a lot easier!

It would be a good time to put your thinking cap on and write down any intended mods that may require some extra wiring behind the dash or from LH to RH sides of the cabin (e.g. aftermarket central locking). Then figure out how many wires you need to add, or if you can trace down some unused ones.
It's considerably easier to do this stuff when the dash is out . . . :P

Check your looms are fastened correctly, and you can spiral wrap strips of foam over bare looms to help reduce possible rattles.

I suppose it's all Captain Obvious, but while you're there . . . . . .

The internal temp sensor is part of teh CC control unit. The ambient sensor is in the front bar. near the horn/s.

well, just got the dash out - and managed not to break it! :o

a bit of messing around by myself, but got it out. need to go collect the replacement one tomorrow, and start removing the heaterbox - so, its not going *too* badly - although the heaterbox will be the more interesting thing...
