Hey Guys,
im sure this has been covered before but search has done little for me. ok iv changed the globes in the back of my climate control to blue, an i have the face off the climate control unit. now i need to know how i can get the filter out of the screen. as it seems the screen needs to be unsoldered to be able to do this. please fella's tell me this isnt the case |

mmm i was afraid ud say that
im not to confident with unsoldering the pins from the back as i dont think i could get them back right. do u think if i cut the pins from the front in the middle, did what i have to do with the filter. then solder the pins back, u think that could work? |

You'd be best to take it to someone who's confident with their soldering (either a friend/member here, or a electronic repair shop) it'd be a freebie job or a very low cost effort.

yea problem is a) i live hundreds of kilometres away from an fm member, my friends all suck, and theres only one guy in town and he is a huge rip off. i think id be confident enough cutting the pins an soldering from the front as there is little to stuff up, just not from the back as the pins are to close to one another.
question is will my dodgy idea work? |

soldering the pins (in my experience - I hold a dipeng in electronics) will be more difficult than doing it 'properly'.
If you haven't desoldered stuff before some hints: get a solder pump or solder wick. A solder pump is a vacuum tool that sucks teh molten lead away from a joint leaving it clean. Solder wick does a similar job, but relies on the copper braided 'wick' to suck the solder in (using the same effect as a candle). You'll then have the pins released from the joins quickly and cleanly, resoldering is then a snap, and will have a cleaner end result.
