to anyone that has converted their non climate ef/el, Im just wondering about the vacuum hoses. The vacuum control solenoid has a bunch of coloured hoses coming out of it which connect to a vacuum plug. Would my Gli have this plug with the hoses going to the rest of the vehicle or will i have to run them myself?
Thanks |

you need the solenoid pack and the pipes.

so all i need for this bit of the conversion is the solenoids black/blue box and the length of hoses (30cm) to plug into the vacuum connector..the rest should be in the car?

far from it.
you need: CC unit. Blend door motor. Wiring. Sunload sensor (above dash). Ambient sensor (bumper). Fan speed regulator. Sniffer Pipe. Or if you can change the dash loom, you'll also need BEM, and Headlight switch and also remove a resistor in the cluster.

Do read the doco on this site, as it will help you with the install.
Do a search using 'climate' as the keyword, and use authors such as myself, 'Krytox' and or 'Data_mine'. Have a good read through them as there is a lot of handy info.

i got a question to add to this as i have done this conversion sucsesfully by changing the wiring loom but never had to add a resistor or change the head light switch why is this so,
ps mate easy way to go with that vacum box is de gas both ac systems and fit the acc heater box i found that alot easier then what the tech doc said

We'll see how it goes removing the whole heater box. Seems more difficult but i spose it'll save stuffing around in the car. I'm guessing u didn't have to add a resistor or anything because u upgraded your bem?

Installing the blend door motor isn't that hard.
Removing it is harder, I've done several conversions and never removed gas/water. With the dash out, it shouldn't take more than 1hr to change! Complete Loom and Module is the easiest headache free and most likely cheapest way.

I'd think you still won't have progressive dimming without the proper headlight switch. I've done both my conversions without removing the heaterbox - personally I think that's the easiest way, but each to their own.

horis wrote: progresive diming ??? The high series switches have the dimming knob spring loaded, so you can hold the switch to either brighten/dim the LCD and/or instrument lighting.
The low series switch does not, either it clicks into the dimming/non dimming position or into the dome light on position. The low series switch will still work, but proper dimming may not.
