Hello,
Does anyone know what might be the cause of my vehicles clock light. It's suppose to illuminate when the ignition key is on. Sometimes it does and sometimes does not. This has been happening on an off for quiet some time, its annoying at night as I cannot see the time unless I use my flashlight. Any help on this would be welcome. Cheers, |

Cheers, I had a similar issue a while ago when I replaced a dead globe in the clock of my EL falcon, I bought a replacement T5 led but the clock backlight would intermittently stop working then come good again, turns out the metal prongs on the side of the bulb holder made poor contact with the circuit board in the back of the clock hence the back light intermittently worked and didn't work. I fixed this by gently bending the metal prongs on the bulb holder down so that they made a better, more firm contact with the circuit board. hope that helps, -Shane. |

Shane,
Thanks mate, How difficult is it to get to the clock without damaging the facia panel? To get to mine it appears I have to remove the radio, console knobs and a few hidden screws if I can locate them and somehow remove the panle without breaking it to gain access to the clock. Peter |

Peter Not too hard to remove the console . There are 2 screws behind the stereo and 2 behind the ash tray and the panel can be pulled out . |

Peter I've never pulled the dash facia off an AU but I don't think it would be terribly difficult, Just take your time and be gentle taking things apart and you should be fine. If i find any info about removing the clock from an AU I'll be sure to post it, best of luck mate. |

Clock light worked again when ignition turned to on position. After driving 3 hours switched engine off then went to turn ignition on again to see if clock light came back on...nope. never has.
I have not touched the clock in the past. I know Shane stated it may be a bad wire connection at the back, the light was dull, not bright so it could be buggered now, so will check it next weekend. Could the ignition switch have a role in this , as in faulty wire somewhere? Cheers, Peter |

Cheers, Peter I don't think the ignition switch would play any role in the issue you are having with the clock not working, I would replace the light in the back of the clock and make sure that the metal tabs on the bulb holder are making firm contact with the circuit board in the clock. |
