Here are the stages from scratch how to change the colour of the clock.
Removing Dash Start off with removing the coin tray. Easily done by opening and pushing the flap inside down. Once this is out, you can see the two screws exposed (shown in the picture) unscrew these. Once loose, swing the unscrewed part up and slide out. Three more screws are made visible, remove these. Remove this screw under the dash, slightly to the right of the steering wheel. Remove these three screws, infront of the cluster. (will need a short screwdriver for the middle one) Remove the one screw under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. Now that all the screws are undone u can slightly pull the dash out thus making it possible to see and unclip the wires connected to the dash. Once all wires have been removed, ease the dash away. the top needs to pulled away first to unclip where the dash meets the consol area. Once the dash is removed, unscrew the two screws holding the aircon pipes on. Unclip the clock unit from the dash by pulling back the few tabs holding it in place. Now unclip the back of the unit. easily done with ur nails. Unscrew the 4 screws holding the circuit part in place. Carefully pull unit apart. Dismantle the clock to remove the orange filter. I used a semi transparent file for my new filter. Here you can use any colour you want. Some people use note paper for the filter. I believe using plastic will hold its colour longer. Installing the filter. Final Product.

lookin' good! very nice work there! might have to do the same myself actually - tie in the blue LED's with the trip computer.
although you *should* be able to pull out the clock etc without removing the entire dash surround - although to be safe, thats most likely the best option!

When I had to get my clock out, I just used a couple of knifes and managed to undo the clips holding them in without removing the whole dash...... pretty easy to do.!

Nice pics Laximah.
My trip computer just pops out without removing the dash. If I take out the rear demister switches next to it I can jsut pop it out without my hand. |

Well, according to Vic on here, for the CC you need to desolder the pins that hold the LCD screen in place on the unit, it is pretty obvious once you've dismantled it but once you've done that you can take out the filter and replace it, and then solder it back.
Sounds a bit scary to me, I don't want to bugger anything up so not too confident in doing that.. but that's how it's done apparently. I wish there was another way.. hehe And also check the mod doco in the mods section for the LCD on the odo, has some pics.
