Im thinking of setting up an power inverter pack to my boot so I can power a coffee machine and other items when I go places.
How is this to fit and what else would I need to consider? What kind of costs would I need to expect? What kind of inverter would I need to look for? Is this a good value inverter? http://performanceshop.com.au/product/P ... 9-8ZED/332 Also would you go for a manual or auto style coffee machine?

Not big enough.
You wont run much of a coffee machine on 1200W. Thats only 5 amps. It might just run but it will be constantly on the edge and very prone to tripping out on overload. 2400W minimum. This would give you the standard 10A that you get out of a normal household wall socket and a bit of headway so the unit isnt working on its maximum all the time.

id say have a look around the 4x4 forums, people have been installing inverters and powering high volt appliances for years on solar.... but id say that wouls be a good place to start looking

simple answer is you have to match the inverter with the appliance. Obviously a 1000watt unit won't run a 2000watt appliance, regardless of what it is. Do your homework specific to your needs, don't ask broad questions. Apparently i'm not the only one who's unsure of how much a coffee machine draws..
