the stalks behind your steering wheel ... just a question - why would you want to swap them over?

Has anyone tried to fit a AU high series combination switch to a EL? I know they have differant plugs. Thanks. Au's have there cruise on/off controls on the combination switch, so it would also mean stuffing around with the cruise control wiring. They have this becuase high series AU's have volume control where the On/Off normally is on EF/EL's

in theory i dot see why it wouldnt work, after all its only wiring isnt it. as long as you get the wiring to go to the right place in theory you should be right

Yes and no. The wiring for cruise buttons on the steering wheel uses varying levels of resistance for each button. This is because there is only one place for any wire to go, and thats on the horn crcuit. The bem measures the resistance, and then controls the cruise from there. With buttons that arent n the horn circuit, theres no need to vary the resistance. So there will be multiple wires. But if you added resistors to each of these wires, and then came up with a common ground, and a common varying resistance, then yes, you can do it ( should )

I don't see why it couldn't work, after all I fitted XE wiper & indicator stalks to a XC so anythings possible if you put your mind to it.

Glenn AU11- my question was has any body fitted a AU11 xr6 combination switch to a EL? The combination switch doesnt have cruise fitted to it! The AU11 leather steering wheel that i have fitted has cruise ( not volume control) as it is fitted to an EL which doesnt have volume control!!

In theory, I can't see why it won't work. Try comparing the wires on the AU combination switch to that on your EL. I realise the plugs are different but are the colours of the wires the same? Is there the same number of wires on the AU Combination switch and the EL combination switch? Try cutting the plug(s) off the AU combination switch and the EL combination switch and mating the two together (AU combination switch with EL plug) assuming both have same amount of wires and colours are the same. Or try finding out what each colour wire does on the AU combination switch and attaching them to the appropriate wire on the EL plug
