Hi, does anyone know what Ford charge for a replacement key for a BA (or AUII)? I've only got 1 so can't get one cut and do it myself unfortunately.

thanks

this is one of those questions where, if you ask, you cant afford it

seriously, if you call them and ask the price, make sure you are sitting down, I was quoted $250, (Yes - AU$)

yes it does, its programmed to the car using a ford scan tool.

from memory the key blank is a whisker under $150 (i could be wrong), plus an hours labour to code the key

ahhh...... expensive keys for the B series.
That would equate to about 10% value of my car.
(actually, closer to 20%)

Thanks for the information guys.

Does anyone know if a normal scan tool that most mechanics have will be able to program one or would it have to be done by Ford?

Also just out of interest what would a Locksmith usually charge to cut one of these keys (If I supplied the blank key and original)?

Just rang Ford, and yep, bloody expensive:

$125 for a blank key
$20 to cut it
$110 labour to code it

$90 for a remote.

If anyone knows if a normal scan tool can do the job, let me know!
cheers

its ridiculous.

i fail to see how a stick of metal, some plastic and a tiny chip costs $125.

and i also fail to see why it would take an HOUR to code it, how hard could it possibly be???

Sad but prices are true! Get people coming in all the time cause they have one key or lost it! Sad reality is at the end of they day people need it so they gotta pay it!

As said before if it was non-coded $20 at a locksmith would kill it!

yeh thats a big part of it. our newest ford scan tool (the IDS) cost us somewhere in the vicinity of $30000 with all the gear, so part of the labour cost goes towards paying for that, and it does take pretty close to an hour because of the security times etc,
