Hi Guys
I have swapped over my steering wheel as well as cruise control buttons, but I have accidentally disconnected or broken one of the wires that control the cruise control, i have uploaded an image and I'm wondering if the module that holds the wires can be replaced? Thanks, Daniel.  [/URL]

i don't really know .... but .... doesn't the cable unplug? if it does [which i think it does?? ] you should be able to get the connector out & rejoin up ya wire ..... don't force anything tho

thats the clock spring i think, should be able to replace it, imight even have one in the shed

Yeah definitely clock spring will have to replace whole unit don't try and rejoin wire.

thanks fellas, if someone is able to show me what the part actually looks like, that would be handy!
The airbag is also connected to it, changing the clock spring wont effect the airbag will it ? |

shouldnt affect the airbag, ive change my indicator/wipe stalk before and change clock spring at the same time and didnt have any issues

ill double check tomorrow, but i think its just take off the surround and its a couple of screws

If the clock spring is like any other Ive looked at, dont wind the new one round too much, if at all. They are delicate things and will break. They allow you to turn the wheel through a number of turns, then they wind too tight and break. We call them clock springs only because they are wound like one. But they are just a ribbon of electrical contact wire. They have a set number of turns left, and the same right. You need it centred, and your road wheels straight.
This is an image of a clock spring pulled apart (not Ford I dont think, but will be close enough) http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x242 ... pring1.jpg My point is, when the new one is in your hands, dont wind it around to see if it works, or jams etc. You will break it if you wind it too far, its maybe 3 turns each way, might only be 1 1/2 Im not sure. So be careful.

I'm hoping to grab a second hand one that it is tact like the ebay one. I did notice with mine I have three wires for the cruise control where the ebay one has two. Will that make a difference? |

The clock spring does more than the cruise control. It connects everything, incl air bags, horn, etc.
Maybe that ebay one has one less feature but I cant think what it might be. Im pretty sure without airbags, these things arent needed. If Im wrong on that, then maybe thats the difference, yours has air bags, the one on ebay is for no airbags. Just ring wreckers and get one exactly the same. They wont cost much more than that ebay one, if any more.
