The weapon is a EA Fairmont Ghia. The switchs seem to work as in the dash indicator lights up and the cable is adjusted correctly. There is also a whistle when the A/C is turned on. The whistle disappears when the air is upto temp. The brake switch also works.
How do I test the vac pump and the other vacume device on the end of the cable?

if it was the cruise control module that pulls the cable (forgot what its called), then it wouldn't be pulling the cable, which is waht it looks like. Try checking all fuses and connections, probably something simple.
And if the dash lights work, then its obviously somewhere away from the BCM...the cruise control module I THINK in the EF/ELs is under the arm rest/centre console. Cheers

Yeah the cruise control module for EA-ED is in the same place.
Can you hear a relay clicking when you turn it ON? Sorry, I'm not sure how youd go about testing the vac motor though?? |

Think I found it. The vacum hose that goes into the dash is disconected in the dash. Is anyone able to describe what this attaches to ??

I think it goes to the brake pedal switch. There are two switches. 1 for the brake lights and 1 for the cruise. The cruise switch on the brake pedal has wiring and the vacum hose going to it. |

Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou. I had a gander at the switches and presumed that the bottom one was the brake and the top was the cruise control. Silly me. The bottom one did indeed have a vacum connection.

Sorry for butting into this thread, but i too have busted cruise control, wondering if i could get some assistance.
Its an ED sprint. When it was working i used to hear a relay clicking on with the cruise ON button, now there's nothing. Could it be the actual switch on the wheel or something else? Also, there was a section on this site somewhere that went through a whole procedure of how to diagnose probs with C.C. Now that the site is up and running again i cant find it. Will it come back???? |

I have that printed somewhere, if no one else can find it, Ill go searching through my garage... basically, you put it into test mode, and then connect a led, and read out the codes....
So its been lost?

do you mean put the cruise control module into test mode? how can you read codes with an LED? the test procedure i was reading was talking about taking voltage readings across different pins of the CC module (i think). Does CC have a separate brain box?

Nah, the connecter beneath the steering column, near the peddles... its a diagnosis connecter, spits out error codes when something goes wrong... or when it thinks soemthings gone wrong. But the cruise could be seperate....
