a while back i had a stereo installed into my car by the shop i bought it at, the stereo stopped working one day as did the clock, i pulled the stereo out and looked at the s**t wiring they performed and after a short trip back to the store and letting loose with a variety of four letter words, i got a full refund and went and bought another stereo from another store, put it in, and it all works fine, only problem now is...the clock works, but is the lcds in it are incredibly dim so much so u cant realy see them.
i'm just wondering what could be the source of it going dim permanantly, ive pulled out a couple of fuses that i thought could be causing it, and they appear to be fine, the wiring is all tidy..so i'm at a loss...any ideas?

sure will be, the fact that you could still see the numbers, instantly told me that the clock was ok, they just weren't illuminated by the bulb!

Yep - illumination bulb - when you remove pieces of the dash, sometimes a bulb can blow due to equipment being removed. Disconnect the battery before taking your dash apart.
