Ok so i want to cover the dash (as in the vinyl parts) in a black suede. What is the best way to do this without it creasing and turning s**t. and what the best thing to use to make it look good where it curves. I can already sense this is gonna be a pain in the a***

Would look 500times better then a dashmat
 Best bet would be to call up an auto trim shop and get a quote. If you get it done can u please make a thread bout it? I redckon heaps of people would want this!!

you can get it done, pro trimmers charge a fortune for that kind of work though.
i'm not sure how difficult it is but JETXR has had it done.

Maybe u could just ring a local auto upholsterer and say u got quoted a cheap price at another place and scam em into a deal?

well when i did my custom parcel shelf and put the carpet on there were no creases. i just stretched some parts but i guess suede would be more of a sensitive material.
anyways what i did to get my carpet on my parcel shelf was by using selleys all clear. squeezed a whole bunch onto the wood and foam (make sure u wear a mask or something...its really strong) and then i put the carpet on top and used my palm to smooth it out over the surface. before it starts to settle down i pulled at the curves and held my palm on top of the stretched part and then put more glue on the underside to fold the carpet over and hold the stretched part.....no creases yet a smooth finish. http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... f&start=20 phong =P~

Not sure waht the difference is, but readinga UK mag i noticed they cover their dashes with alacantra, the same covering thats found on lambo dasshboards, looked great and apparently although pricey, its a littleeasier to install then traditional suede

Wierd, i was quoted $100 to get my dash done.
I think I might of heard him wrong. Just so you guys know, if you use your car every day. Prepare for the suede to sag. If your car is a daily driver, when you glue the suede on, after numerous days in the hot sun etc, the glue will lose it's sticky, and it will start to look crap. So it'll just be a matter of having to re-do it. That's all

Up to you, but I was just repeating what Cam, from Auto Image said to me. And he has been doing it for god knows how many years. So before you guys go talking about stuff, how about going to the effort to talk to the professionals.
Remember car temperatures, can double the outside temp. By all means, you might be lucky with whatever glue you use. Depends where you park and use your car.

yeah i know that the glue will come off eventually.....but so far my carpet is still intact....ill get back to when summer comes by. but im sure silicon glue is made to withstand harsh enviroments and constant UV and heat exposure. lets hope it dont go all bad =( cause i dont want to redo the shelf

hey phong, i am going to do something similar to your back shelf. My gas tank leaves me very little room to put speakers in, but being an upholsterer, ill staple the carpet down and use contact adhesive. we spray it on stuff with a cheap air spray gun - works well. What type of glue did you end up using??

i was using selleys all clear. but then i ran out. i couldn't be stuffed going to the shops so i used some other water proof silicon glue but still did the job....but wasn't selleys all clear =(. then used spare wood to smooth the glue out and just layed the carpet on top. worked out well =D
