wanting to paint the dash surround... wondering those who have done this, how did you get a good finish...

ive painted mine car colour ( gun metal grey )
the only thing is i didnt put clear on it so it looks good :)
but i also did around the shifter aswell ,
o ther inserts were done in silver frost ( vents , clock ,radio suround,ashtray , central locking and fuel / boot )
looks tops .......

firstly i got my dash facia preped in plastic primer then high filled ( putty )
wet rubbed that back 800grit paper and air brushed it with the left over color from my car ( had other spray work done hence the left overs )
while i used some silver from another car from work ,
Rubbed the grain finish off the radio surround with 400grit on the electric sander also doing the gear shifter soround , clock and demist panel !
If you got some past expreince in painting auto paint it you should be ok with it ! !

that is soooo nice. never airbrushed before but i know a pro (one of australia's best in fact) so i'll get him to do it/teach me. thanks!!

airbrush / spraygun ! same thing only a few member in here have seen wot i can do with sorts of spray guns ! :P

hey shoey mate the paint job u did on that is excellent im not a big fan of the colour choice tho... but each to their own... um did u use exterior touch up paint then clear coat it to come up with the gloss look??

nah just got it sprayed in 2 pac enamel from the panel beaters no clears nothing and it still has a nice gross finesh cause i sanded the dash smooth prior and it wont chip or scratch
