What car you got mate?
For my EF Fairmont it cost me about $20 in LED's to do my cluster, trip computer, aerial adjustment button, demister button and ashtray light. I didnt convert the bulbs behind the LCD panels though (odometer, trip computer and climate control) just left it looking orange, but i like it . I just used the ready made LED plugins bulbs and modified them to suit. Easier than stuffing around with resistors soldering etc. Before: After: |

What modifications did you have to make to the bulbs to suit? Was that just the light sanding?

You don't need to modify the leds they just replace the lights on your cluster. You can buy the leds from ebay relatively cheap get the of the seller named poohbear or something. Others including myself have bought the leds from him would do a deal if you buy alot or the whole front dash led conversion. Hope it gives u more info. and good luck with the mod.

If you buy the leds I posted a link to in the thread I linked to earlier, you can get 10 for $11, you only need 6 for the dash, 1 for odo.
You do need to take a few mm off the top of them though, to fit in the cluster. |

As said the only modification they need is to have a few mm filed down off the clear lense on the LED, so that it doesnt sit too close to the inside of the cluster and give an uneven shine. In some cases they wont fit at all cause they hit something inside the cluster but its only really needed if the LED's you buy are a bit longer than standard which in my case they were.
For the demisitor switch and aerial adjustment switch i had to modify the top and bottom of the LED's housing so that it could fit in the holder as they have different holders from the cluster. I also sanded the top of the LED's flat to stop the light being so directional and spread it out a bit. |

Pretty simple really in EF/EL and phillips head screws, just need to remove the ashtray, then the radio surround by undoing the 2 screws at the bottom either side of where the ashtray sits then pull that out, disconnect the plug for the ciggy lighter and the little twist in bulb. Then i think theres about 3 screws behind where the radio surround was, 2 at the bottom either side holding the dash panel in and one in the right top corner i think. Theres three screws above the steering wheel where the cluster is. and i think 2 screws under then dash either side of the steering wheel. Think thats all of them from memory. Then pull the dash panel out, drop the steering wheel a bit if it helps, unplug all the looms going to the boot release, fuel door, door lock, trip computer/clock, demistor switches etc. Then you'll get access to the cluster. Theres 4 screws holding that in, undo them, then unplug the 2 looms going to the back of the cluster. Pull it out, then swap the LED's over. Remember you can only use the white bulb holders, as they have the removable bulbs the other ones have them soldered in. Theres 6 bulbs all up for the dials 3 tacho and 3 speedo. Swap those bulbs over to the LED's and whatever other bulbs you wanna swap out etc. The plug the looms back into the cluster and check that the LED's you replaced are all working. If not take the ones not working out and put them in the other way as LED's.
EFNA, just buy some T5 LED wedge bulbs off Ebay, they are a straight plugin. Have a look at the link that krisisdog posted and click the link in the other thread. |

The blue and white means the bulb holder. The white ones you can easily remove the bulbs but the blue bulb holder requires more effort and they aren't soldered it just requires more effort to take the bulbs out from the blue bulb holder. When you take out the cluster then you will see what we are talking about.

Which bulb for high beam are you talking about the headlight bulb in front of the car or the actual display on the cluster for high beam?
Gear selection bulb you can replace its a different type of bulb then the clusters its a wedge type bulb and is easily replaceable. The cigarette light is same as cluster bulbs im pretty sure and that can be replaced easily aswell.
