I don't know if this has been covered before - I haven't seen anything that I can remember.
Just a quick example, as I've seen genuine carpeted items go for fairly large prices. Used E series rear parcel shelf carpet for the covering (peel off the underfelt) - cost $5 from the wreckers. You can use any similar material you wish - so long as it is reasonably thin, as it is really easy to work with. Cut to shape and use contact glue. Pretty easy and relatively quick to do. Don't use normal car floor carpet as it's too thick to work with, and looks s**t. Hope it gives some ideas:

You have to pull it really tight in all directions Sean. It's easy enough to do hey

Yeah thanks fellas.fordzatmyplace wrote: they look geniune to me Definitely not genuine - velour has a smoother and finer finish.you sure your not rattling our chains here? kizzer wrote: how do u make it follow the curve in the plactic? it will follow the curve pretty easy - if you want you can tape a couple of A4 paper sheets together and trace the curve, and transfer that on to your material - make the overall size a tad bigger, so you can trim the edges nice and flush.EF-XRAN wrote: You have to pull it really tight in all directions Sean. As I say, very cheap, quick and effective mod to do - there's no special 'skills' involved.

Sweet, my old parcel shelf is sitting around doing nothing - might peel the material off that insulating stuff or whatever it is and give it a go
My parcel shelf is now MDF, car bog and fur lol so I may aswell use it for something

I used some supercheap carpet mats without the backing, no problems fitting and sticking with contact adheasive. I have since changed to different floor carpet and now they no longer match.
