The fabric liner of the roof ('88 EA) has dropped a while ago & is bugging me now!! Is it a huge job to change the whole roof liner with the backing board etc, if I can find one at a wrecker that is or should I try some other way?

Right now I have used thumb tacks into the board stuff underneath but freeway driving with the windows down pulls them out!!

I can imagine that glu'ing the liner I have will leave lines & bumps... not a much better look than the tacks!

Tips??

in the trading post each week there is adds for guys that will come to you and recover your boards with new felt, for around $180-220.

or try a couple of trimmers in your area, could find cheaper.

i was gunna organise a roof lining day, but every trimmer i spoke to wasnt interested in doing it, ah well.

to take the roof lining out is easy.
1st take the sunvisors off aswell as the brakets.
2nd take the handles off above the doors.
3rd take off all of the plastic inner door trims off from window height up.
4th take the front & rear winscreen plastic trims off aswell.

Once this is done (takes about 20mins) the roof lining is still tacked in by those plastic tacks, pull of gently as these can break easy.

(A) you can pay between $150-$180 to get it retrimed
(B) do what I did go and get a EF-EL roof lining from a wreakers $40upwards. If you decide to get one from option (B) do the above to reinstall.

I have always said it should fit - same roof size, might need some small adjustments but would be the best thing to do!

hey i thought it would be cool to cut out designs of some sort and superglue them inbetween the roof lining and the roof and glue around underneath it to make the trim a tight fit around it so the design underneath sticks out.. if ya know wat i mean.....

yes... no???? just a thought
